Transferring folders / multiple files

Sorry if this has been asked but the search doesn't seem to work properly, I keep getting response for most searches that I use a too common word.

Is there a way to transfer folders or select multiple files for transfer preferably by FTP. I try to download videos from my FTP server and 'edit' option doesn't allow me to select all and transfer files to my iPad.

iTunes file sharing is the best way to transferring folders.
