HTTP Video Streaming on Iphone 3GS

OPlayer plays almost any file formats in your iDevice, no need to spend several hours to convert your videos.

HTTP Video Streaming on Iphone 3GS

Postby frankgilbert » Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:01 am

Hi, I have a Buffalo Linkstation Live as a media server. In OPlayer's Web Browser, I can access media over WiFi by typing http://user:password@proxy.com:9000. I can then successfully stream MP3s and view images (via 'Open', 'Play the file'). However, if I try to play an mpg or avi (xvid), nothing happens, it just sits at the 'filename, Open' screen. If I try to stream some MOV files, it plays the audio but not the video. This happens with both small and large files. Any suggestions?

As an aside, may I suggest that, while in the Web Browser, the 'File Servers' button is placed at the bottom of the screen. It's too easy to hit it instead of the button that takes you back through your folders!

One other suggestion: As well as 'Play the file', and 'Download the file', it would be good to have an 'Add to playlist' option, so you don't just play streamed files one at a time.

Thanks,

Frank

1) Can I know your media files's URL? currently we only support directly media access, such as "http://xxx/xxx.avi"
2) Thanks for your suggestion, on the bottom there should no "file server" button, you mean top? it's a navigation bar.
3) As network streaming depends on the ip address, and most people use DHCP, that's why we didn't implement add streaming URL to playlist.

1) Although you say you only currently support direct media access, I have browsed to the files that I can stream successfully. For example, I can go to http://user:password@proxy.com:9000, see my media folders, browse to the 'music' folder, then select an mp3, choose 'Open', then choose 'Play the file', and it will stream. There are also some MOV files that I can play by browsing to them. Anyway, I have setup a temporary username and password to give you web access to my media files. How can I send it to you privately?

2) Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. The 'file server' button is currently at the top. My suggestion was to move it to the bottom.

3) Don't understand this, but no matter.
