mp3 is native format, so it supports on iPod2 or earlier models with quicktime plugin

Exactly! but I can't play an album of mp3 files, I can only play each mp3 file on a track by track basis which makes it essentially useless with an ipod gen2. I think this should be made clearer to potential buyers.
