Hi everyone,

New to this. Just bought a NAS Seagate GOFlex Home 3 TB drive, and am able to automatically access it with air player local, but am having problems with the manual setup for external

here is the internal link that was auto mapped by the app

http://LocalIP:8200/rootDesc.xml

I opened the 8200 port on my linksys and used the public ip address and this config but cannot get it to work

http://PublicIP:8200/rootDesc.xml

with the username and password setup on the drive and have had no luck.

Any ideas??

Thanks

I am trying to remote access my Serviio server with Iphone 5. No Dice. I am Little confused here. I also am a little new at this stuff so bare with me. I can access locally just fine. I copied and pasted the suggested URL Airplayer gave me to access outside of local.
(Add server Manually)

Were I get a little confused is, do i have to put something different in the /diviceDescription/?
If so, What do i put? Were can I find my deviceDescription?
Also Add server Manually is asking for a User Name and Password.
Password I'm guessing is what I use to access serviio mediabrowser from outside. That works fine from any Browser outside.
There is no User Name for Serviio Server. What do I do with that in Airplayer? Just leave Blank?
Serviio works fine outside with my Android using app ServiioGo. No problem there.
Also, I have opened all sugggested ports in my router. 8895 is one of them. Rebooted everything and still. No dice. Airplayer won't connect outside using the Iphone 5. Like I said, It works great on my home wifi.
This is a great app and would love to get it to work outside of local.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of banging my head off the wall with this.
Thanks.

make sure you have used public ip when you add the url manually, in your case: http://public ip of your route:8895/deviceDescription/edf579b3-7c26-3ff0-986e-cc1a406c97df
and then do the port mapping in your route: public ip:8895<=>192.168.1.75:8895

Got it! Works great outside of local. Had to go into AT&T 2Wire router and find the Public IP. Left user name blank and just put in the password I use to log into Mediabrowser for Serviio. I was using the static IP of my WHS 2011 were I am running Serviio on, that's what the problem was.
Thanks for the help.

I have a NAS Seagate GOFlex Home 3 TB drive, and am able to access it with air player locally, but am having problems with the manual setup for external access.

Airplayer mapped it to:

http://LocalIP:8200/rootDesc.xml

I opened the 8200 port on my Zoom 5350 cable router and used the public ip address and this config but it does not work

http://PublicIP:8200/rootDesc.xml

Has anyone been succesful in accessing the go flex gome NAS over the internet?

I'll appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks

Can you get a xml if you input "http://PublicIP:8200/rootDesc.xml " in your safari?

that means you haven't done port mapping correctly.

I am trying to connect to my GoFlex Home remotely using iOS airplayer app. This app has no problems connecting on the local network (wifi) but over 3G I cant get any response.

I have foewarded port 8200 to the ip address of the GoFlex drive (192.168.0.4) and in the settings on the airplayer app I am using the external ip address to my router with :8200 at the end. Then my usual username and password.

Nothing happens!

I then tried adding /rootDesc.xml to the end so it looked like this:
http://PublicIP:8200/rootDesc.xml but still nothing.

When I go to http://192.168.0.4:8200/rootDesc.xml in a browser on my mac on the local network then I do get a load of XML
When I go to http://PublicIP:8200/rootDesc.xml in a safari on my iPhone on the 3G network then I get a blank white page which may mean it sees the xml too.

Do you have any idea what I need to do to connect my airplayer app on iPhone to the Goflex Home?
