Not able to connect to Iomega HMND NAS from iPad

AirPlayer is an application for streaming video*, music*, photo* from UPnP/DLNA media servers to your Apple iPhone/iPod/iPad.

Not able to connect to Iomega HMND NAS from iPad

AirPlayer does not detect the DLNA server on the Iomega Home Media Network Drive (1 TB) from iPad - is there any way to add it manually. Entering just the IP address does not help - it comes up with something like "Unknows Media Server".

How do I find the address of the "device description file" if it does not get automatically entered.

You can ask in their support forum.
some known servers we have listed here:

Based on the "known servers", I tried a few combinations for the Iomega HMND NAS using rhe browser. It has a description file "http://IPAddress:9000/DeviceDescription.xml" - however, when I enter that manually in AirPlayer, it does not work and I get the same "Unknowd Media Server Message".
The "Airplayer" page says that it works with Iomega drives.
The WD TV Live HD player works happily with the Iomega HMND - so the Iomega media server is certainly working.
I could not find any help on Iomega forum.
Any ideas?

Have you tried the "http://IPAddress:9000/DeviceDescription.xml"
in the browser and get correct xml file?

I tried the "http://IPAddress:9000/DeviceDescription.xml" in the browser and get the following -

from your reply, you have put the correct address (http://IPAddress:9000/DeviceDescription.xml)

" The WD TV Live HD player works happily with the Iomega HMND - so the Iomega media server is certainly working. "
The Iomega HMND can be accessible by the WD TV Live Media Player either as a Samba Device or UPNP/DLNA streaming

Airplayer use UPNP/DLAN only, so please help check the UPNP/DLNA in Iomega HMND is working .

The WD TV Live player can access the Iomega HMND as a media server (listed as a media server in the menu) as well as a Samba device (I am presuming that is as a network share for file browsing).
There is no setting in the Iomega configuration other than enabling "DLNA" for the media folders which I have done.
Not sure why AirPlayer can't see it.
(Looking at the "DeviceDescription.xml", it appears that it is not a "TwonkyServer" - wonder what server is it?)

"<friendlyName>Iomega-07e107 : PVConnect: Windows Media Connect</friendlyName>
<manufacturer>Microsoft</manufacturer>
<manufacturerURL>http://www.microsoft.com/</manufacturerURL>
<modelName>Windows Media Connect</modelName>"

Seems the server is Window Media Connect

Is there any security setting for the Iomega HMND ? like firewall, user account ?
