Airplayer doesn't launch

Hi,

I am trying to run the AirPlayer on my ipod 2g 16gb. I tap on the icon and about 2 seconds late it kicks me back to the home screen. I reset the iPod holding down the power and home buttons and tried again but it still doesn't launch

It has the latest firmware 4.2.1
It has a fresh charge on the battery
This is the only app I have which doesn't launch

Any help would be appreciated. i'm open to anything.
