Is there any update or progress on this issue?

I've just purchased AirPlayer only to find all my MKV files stutter on my iPad2 and iPhone4.

Bit disappointed as it listed MKV as compatible along with my Synology NAS hence why I purchased.

I found this forum thread via google.

Many thanks

Ok, what about iphone4 - should it not be able to play 720p MKV via DLNA?

Many thanks

We have tested on the iPad2, as it has dual core, it can supports 720p mkv, iPhone4 can't supports 720p MKV file.

Finally manage to get it working. One thing for sure is that the video does lag (regardless of MKV, AVI, etc.). The audio and videos are also not sync. So the only solution is to disable the Skip Frame. But due to the small bug of Airplayer, you will need to kill the App first in the background and restart again.
Presto!!!
It works like a beauty.

Has anyone tried the TV OUT function using HDMI Adaptor? OK, I think i found a bug here.
As I mention previously, it all works fine when I'm viewing it from my iphone 4, but when i enable the output to the HDMI adaptor to my 42 inch plasma, it all stutter.
Does anyone else see this problem?

I think you'll better wait until they fix it.
There was "another competitor app", which could play media content via DLNA perfectly smooth, but in the latest version they've broken it.
So now my only hope is Airplayer. :)

So... any info on when this will be released? Because right now, it's money wasted and the application is unusable to the likes of me.
